Farm Animal Painted Rocks for Kids

Hi there! We use affiliate links where relevant for products that we love. This means that companies say, “hey thanks for telling people about us!” by giving us a small commission as a result (Trust us, guys, it’s SMALL!) That being said, our opinions are always our own. Thanks for reading!

painted rock collage with words To wrap up the farm animal unit, the kids and I headed outside to make some farm animal painted rocks that we could use as book ends.  They were begging me to do this project all day, and really had a fun time with this craft.  I “found” 6 roundish rocks in some parking lot landscaping and brought them home.  I suppose I could have washed the rocks off, but I didn’t.  I used paints I already had laying around the house.  If you remember, for my polka dot easter eggs I had bought some acrylic paints from DecoArt at my local Pat Catan’s, so I had all the supplies on hand that I needed.  A zero cost fun project to do with the kids that we will keep for years and actually use?  I call that a slam dunk!

I think the kids’ farm animals turned out really cute.  I just squirted out some paint for them, gave them brushes, and this is what they created.

The girls assured me that cats qualified as farm animals since we had seen some in the sheep barn doing our trip to the farm.  They got me there.  The kids loved this project and it was so simple.  I love how their creativity shines through, and we will enjoy their masterpieces every time we look at the bookshelf.  If you like this project, pin it to your kids craft board to try out some time.  I hope you have learned something during this farm animal unit, I certainly have, and the kids and I have had so much fun.  Thanks for joining in.
